Introduction to Outdoor Leadet Skills (IOLS) is a part of the Basic Training curriculum required of adult leaders to become a Boy Scout scoutmaster or assistant scoutmaster. The course is also useful for other scouting leaders to learn the skills that will be taught to the boys as a part of the outdoor program through the rank of First Class Scout.

This course is taught by the Golden Arrow District training team on an 2-day/1-night campout, and BSA leaders from everywhere are invited to attend.  Participants must attend a "patrol meeting" held on a Wed evening about 10 days in advance of the campout to meet your fellow patrol members and plan your menu, supplies, etc. Details will be provided in advance to all those who have signed up before the Apr.18 pre-camp meetings. The pre-camp meeting will be held at 7:30 PM at St. Paul Presbyterian located at 7200 Bellaire Blvd and the SW Frwy.

The training is at BSA Camp Brosig located at 1893 Trenchmann Rd., Sealy, TX 77474. Directions: I-10 west to Sealy. Exit State Hwy 36, drive 5.1 mi. past FM 331 and another 0.6 mi. to dead end at Trenchmann Rd. Turn left and drive 1.6 mi. to Camp entrance on the left. The course begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, April 28, and continues overnight until noon on Sunday, April 29.

This is the favorite course for most people completing their Basic Training.  Just like the boys, we compete as patrols and have fun!
